Hi there, I’m Doug.

A professional vocalist, educator, and Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Christopher Newport University, living and working in Newport News.

I specialize in vocal and acting technique across Broadway, Classical, and Jazz styles—helping passionate artists take the next step in their careers.

I’ve done a bit of everything.

Performed on Broadway, National tours, guest entertained on several major cruise lines, rowed and sang on a gondola, sang principal roles with regional opera companies, played and sang cocktail jazz in a lounge, made monster noises for an AAA video game, rocked out like Elvis in a 50s musical, originated roles, won prestigious singing competitions (American Traditions 2011 + Lotte Lenya 2013), taught collegiate acting and voice, studio singing in LA, professional chorus work, commercial voice over, and almost became a Korean pop-opera star, all to make nearly 100% of my living from my voice work since I turned sixteen.

I believe in formal education as my BM in voice from UNLV, MM in voice from UCLA and DMA in voice from UNLV, can attest. I’ve studied acting in Meisner, Stanislavsky and even taught a year at the Lee Strasburg Institute in Los Angeles. My private teaching is a smorgasbord of different techniques and skills for students to PLAY with and find what WORKS for YOU.
